| Bio: | My layout is best viewed in firefox. Some of the code came from everything_lj. The layout graphics are all mine. All graphics seen in this user info are made by me unless stated otherwise. User info is graphics heavy. I'm just a starving writer with a really good soundtrack to my life. So, welcome to my journal. I hope you have fun here. I can't promise it will always be interesting, but sometimes it will be funny, sometimes it will be fangirly, and sometimes it will be chock-a-block full of graphics. Speaking of, my graphics, can be found easily in the graphics part of this info page. How handy, huh? The main fandoms you'll find here are The Who, House, Doctor Who (Classic), Torchwood, Fred Astaire, The Monkees, David Bowie, QI, and Eddie Izzard. There may also be music, movie and book reviews, and a few rants to add to the everyday stuff. So, if you're still reading this and you think we'd get along, leave me a comment or two and we can chat! The Music Sometimes you can learn alot about someone through the lyrics they love: On a quiet street where old the ghosts meet, I see her walking now, Away from me so hurriedly. My reason must allow, that I had loved, not as I should, a creature made of clay. When the angel woos the clay, he'll lose, his wings at the dawn of day. ~The Young Dubliners, Raglan Road In this long line, there's been some real strange genes. You've got'em all, you've got'em all, with some extras thrown in. ~The Who, Real Good Looking Boy Tell everybody, waitin' for Superman, that they should try to hold on the best they can. He hasn't dropped them, forgot them, or anything. It's just too heavy for Superman to lift. ~The Flaming Lips, Waitin' on Superman I've forgotten how long I've been sitting here, watching my reflection in a disappearing beer. The loneliness is so thick you can slice it, the emptiness is too much for me to fight it. And while tomorrow must be met, it seems, that life's become a jewel that dimly gleams, from its perch atop a ring that's slightly out of round, casting the reflection of a crying clown. ~Michael Nesmith, Tomorrow and Me Cold War kids were hard to kill, under their desks in an air raid drill. Haven't they heard we won the war? What do they keep on fighting for? ~Billy Joel, Leningrad I'm not expecting to grow flowers in the desert, but I can live and breathe and see the sun in wintertime. ~Big Country, In a Big Country What a good year for the roses. Many blooms still linger there. The lawn could stand another mowin. Funny I dont even care. As you turn to walk away, as the door behind you closes, the only thing I have to say, "Its been a good year for the roses." ~Elvis Costello, Good Year for the Roses Spend the rest of my days, dear, without any cares. Everyone understands me, in the valley of tears. ~Buddy Holly, Valley of Tears Deep in the back of my mind is an unrealized sound, every feeling I get from the street says it soon could be found. When I hear the cold lies of the pusher, I know it exists. It's confirmed in the eyes of the kids, emphasized with their fists. ~The Who, Music Must Change We're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl, year after year. ~Pink Floyd, Wish You Were Here It's a god-awful small affair, To the girl with the mousy hair, But her mummy is yelling "No," And her daddy has told her to go, But her friend is nowhere to be seen, Now she walks through her sunken dream, To the seat with the clearest view, And she's hooked to the silver screen, But the film is a saddening bore, For she's lived it ten times or more, She could spit in the eyes of fools, As they ask her to focus on, Sailors fighting in the dance hall, Oh man! Look at those cavemen go, It's the freakiest show, Take a look at the Lawman, Beating up the wrong guy, Oh man! Wonder if he'll ever know, He's in the best selling show...Is there life on Mars? ~David Bowie, Life On Mars? My Graphics I make tons of graphics, especially icons. I tend to like sharp, base-focused graphics or graphics with silly text on them. I've tagged my graphics entries below for easy access. If you'd like to use any please credit and do not hotlink. My Icons Banners Journal Themes Headers Colorbars Glitters and Misc Stuff Screen Caps For fandom specific graphics here are some links to tags: House The Who Torchwood Eddie Izzard The Monkees These of course aren't the only fandoms I have icons for, but feel free to search around my tags or just all of my icons for others. If you would like to request graphics, leave a comment in my journal. I would now like to shamelessly self-pimp my abilities by directing you to my awards. And finally, brushes I use come from here (if they're not made by me). My Fandoms What would we be without fandoms? Well we'd probably be more productive...but that's besides the point! Without fandoms the internet would be less entertaining, less frightening, and less filled with OMGWTFBBQ drama. Let's face it, we need things to squee about, things to fight about, things to develop conspiracy theories over, things to write about, things to make graphics about, and things to spend so much time on that we are no longer really productive members of society. Hurrah! And so, I thought I'd pay a little bit of tribute to my favorite fandoms here with some graphic tributes. My Favorite band is The Who: I especially love Roger Daltrey: My Favorite American TV show is House: I especially love Hugh Laurie: My favorite English TV show is Torchwood: I especially love Captain Jack Harkness: I have a somewhat unhealthy obsession with The Monkees: With an especially big crush on Mike: I have nicknamed the 4th Doctor "Squishy": I also love Eddie Izzard: I have always been in love with David Bowie: I very much enjoy Rugby: Don't think that these are the only things that make me squee, oh no. They're just the most important ones. And should another become as important, believe me, you'll hear about it. Being Literary Well I had to have a small section where I show my extreme dorkiness in the bookworm area. I write, I read, I bore others around me...and I am proud of it! My favorite authors are George Orwell, Fyodor Dostoevsky, Nikolai Gogol, Roald Dahl, Jonathan Swift and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. There's an odd group, huh? In the off chance I'm reading non-fiction it'll probably have something to do with theology or music. So's not to have to further lengthen my info into yet another category I'm going to also include my film buff dorkiness in this section and conclude this last organized bit with a list of quotes from books, movies, and random people. Enjoy! Quotes "Depend upon it, there comes a time when for every addition of knowledge you forget something that you knew before. It is of the highest importance, therefore, not to have useless facts elbowing out the useful ones." "But the Solar System!" I protested. "What the deuce is it to me?" he interrupted impatiently: "you say that we go around the sun. If we went around the moon it would not make a pennyworth of difference to me or my work." ~Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson From A Study in Scarlet by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle "He was a bold man that first ate an oyster." ~Jonathan Swift "Apart from all this, I’m very annoyed by an event that’s due to take place at 7 o’clock tomorrow. A strange phenomenon: the earth is going to land on the moon. An account of this has been written by the celebrated English chemist Wellington. I confess I feel deeply troubled when I consider how unusually delicate and insubstantial the moon is. The moon, as everyone knows, is usually made in Hamburg, and they make a complete hash of it. I’m surprised that the English don’t do something about it. The moon is manufactured by a lame cooper, and it’s obvious the idiot has no idea what it should be made of. The materials he uses are tarred rope and linseed oil. That’s why there’s such a terrible stink all over the earth, which makes us stop our noses up. It also explains why we cannot see out noses - they're all on the moon." ~Poprishchin From "Diary of a Madman" by Nikolai Gogol "Fear me, love me, do as I say, and I will be your slave." ~Jareth From the film The Labyrinth "This is a song about...cheese sandwiches." ~Pete Townshend Introducing Music Must Change in concert "We possess enough religion to make us hate, but not enough to make us love one another." ~Jonathan Swift "The vibrations on the air are the breath of God speaking to man's soul. Music is the language of God. We musicians are as close to God as man can be. We hear His voice. We read His lips. We give birth to the children of God who sing His praise. That's what musicians are, and if we are not that, we are nothing." ~Beethoven From the film Copying Beethoven "My name is Eel, Robert Eel. I am the new rotsap of Nibbleswicke. Dog help me!" ~Reverend Lee From The Vicar of Nibbleswicke by Roald Dahl "I know I seems an insane person - because I hardly knows you - but sometimes things are so transparency, they don't need evidential proof. And I will inhabit here, or you can inhabit with me in England." ~Jamie From the film Love Actually "There is not in all America a more dangerous trait than the deification of mere smartness unaccompanied by any sense of moral responsibility." ~Theodore Roosevelt, 1903 "He was deranged, he was... lunatic. He didn't seem to like me very much. He had threatened to kill me in public." "Why would he want to kill you in public?" "I think she meant he threatened, in public, to kill her." ~Mrs. White, Miss Scarlet, and Wadsworth From the film Clue "If we shadows have offended, think but this; and all is mended that you have but slumbered here while these visions did appear and this weak and idle theme no more yielding but a dream." ~Puck From "A Midsummers Night's Dream" by William Shakespeare Random Stuff: And here is a hodge-podge of other things that don't quite fit elsewhere for those of us who like loose ends and poor organization! Woo! ![]() You'll be missed Tough Guy. ![]() How cute is Wolfgang? ![]() This is a pic I took of Steven Tyler right before he grabbed my face and sang to me.
