I'm just a starving writer with a really good soundtrack to my life.

Welcome to my journal. I hope you have fun here. This is where I rant, fangirl, dork out, be serious, be silly, be me. You'll find me typing greatly about tv, music, and books along with the normal everyday stuff. I also love a good meme. And best of all, I tend to post quite a few graphics, mainly icons. Speaking of, my graphics, can be found easily in the graphics part of this info page. Handy, huh?

The main fandoms you'll find here are Doctor Who (Four), Star Trek TOS, Life, Fred Astaire, The Monkees, QI, Eddie Izzard, The Who, David Bowie, and Hotel Babylon. Those aren't my only obsessions, and I can sometimes be a fickle fangirl, but it's a good start.

So if you're still reading this and you think we'll get along, drop me a comment or two. I don't often flock posts unless necessary so what you see is pretty much what you get.

The Music

Sometimes you can learn alot about someone through the lyrics they love:

On a quiet street where old the ghosts meet, I see her walking now, Away from me so hurriedly. My reason must allow, that I had loved, not as I should, a creature made of clay. When the angel woos the clay, he'll lose, his wings at the dawn of day.
~The Young Dubliners, Raglan Road

Lean on my shoulder now, this story is done. It's getting colder now. A thousand songs, still smoulder now. We play them as one. We're older now. All of us sad. All of us free. Before we walk from this stage, two of us, will you have some tea, at the theatre with me?
~The Who, Tea and Theatre

Mr. Ambulance Driver, tell me, "for everyone that dies someone new is born."
~The Flaming Lips, Mr. Ambulance Driver

They say that these are not the best of times, But they're the only times I've ever known.
~Billy Joel, Summer, Highland Falls

I'm not expecting to grow flowers in the desert, but I can live and breathe and see the sun in wintertime.
~Big Country, In a Big Country

As you turn to walk away, as the door behind you closes, the only thing I have to say, "Its been a good year for the roses."
~Elvis Costello, Good Year for the Roses

Cold War kids were hard to kill, under their desk in an air raid drill.
~Billy Joel, Leningrad

Everyone understands me, in the valley of tears.
~Buddy Holly, Valley of Tears

It's a god-awful small affair, To the girl with the mousy hair, But her mummy is yelling "No," And her daddy has told her to go, But her friend is nowhere to be seen, Now she walks through her sunken dream, To the seat with the clearest view, And she's hooked to the silver screen, But the film is a saddening bore, For she's lived it ten times or more, She could spit in the eyes of fools, As they ask her to focus on, Sailors fighting in the dance hall, Oh man! Look at those cavemen go, It's the freakiest show, Take a look at the Lawman, Beating up the wrong guy, Oh man! Wonder if he'll ever know, He's in the best selling show...Is there life on Mars?
~David Bowie, Life On Mars?

My Graphics

I make tons of graphics, mainly icons. I tend to like sharp, base-focused graphics with lots of color. I've tagged my graphics entries below for easy access. If you'd like to use any please credit and do not hotlink.

For fandom specific graphics please check my tags. I've updated my tagging system so every tag that does not start with post! is a graphics tag. All post! tags lead to text entries. If you would like to request graphics, leave a comment in my journal on any post.

I would now like to shamelessly self-pimp my abilities by directing you to my awards.

And finally, brushes I use come from here (if they're not made by me).

My Fandoms

What would we be without fandoms? Well we'd probably be more productive...but that's besides the point! Without fandoms the internet would be less entertaining, less frightening, and less filled with OMGWTFBBQ drama. Let's face it, we need things to squee about, things to fight about, things to develop conspiracy theories over, things to write about, things to make art about, and things to spend so much time on that we are no longer really productive members of society. Hurrah! And so, here is a graphic tribute to some of my favorite fandoms.

Don't think that these are the only things that make me squee, oh no. They're just the most important ones. And should another become as important, believe me, you'll hear about it.

Being Literary

What I'm reading (2009)

Well I had to have a small section where I show my extreme dorkiness in the bookworm area. I write, I read, I bore others around me...and I am proud of it! My favorite authors are George Orwell, Fyodor Dostoevsky, Nikolai Gogol, Roald Dahl, Peter S. Beagle, H.G. Wells and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. There's an odd group, huh? In the off chance I'm reading non-fiction it'll probably have something to do with theology, the Victorian era, or music. So I'm going to conclude this last organized bit with a list of quotes from books I adore.

"A man couldn't cover himself with dust by rolling in a paradox, could he?"
From The Time Machine by H.G. Wells

"Depend upon it, there comes a time when for every addition of knowledge you forget something that you knew before. It is of the highest importance, therefore, not to have useless facts elbowing out the useful ones."
"But the Solar System!" I protested.
"What the deuce is it to me?" he interrupted impatiently: "you say that we go around the sun. If we went around the moon it would not make a pennyworth of difference to me or my work."
~Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson
From A Study in Scarlet by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle

"My drawing was not a picture of a hat. It was a picture of a boa constrictor digesting an elephant. But since the grown-ups were not able to understand it, I made another drawing: I drew the inside of a boa constrictor, so that the grown-ups could see it clearly. They always need to have things explained."
From Le Petit Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

"You can find your people if you are brave. They passed down all the roads long ago, and the Red Bull ran close behind them and covered their footprints."
From The Last Unicorn by Peter S. Beagle

"Apart from all this, I’m very annoyed by an event that’s due to take place at 7 o’clock tomorrow. A strange phenomenon: the earth is going to land on the moon. An account of this has been written by the celebrated English chemist Wellington.
I confess I feel deeply troubled when I consider how unusually delicate and insubstantial the moon is. The moon, as everyone knows, is usually made in Hamburg, and they make a complete hash of it. I’m surprised that the English don’t do something about it. The moon is manufactured by a lame cooper, and it’s obvious the idiot has no idea what it should be made of. The materials he uses are tarred rope and linseed oil. That’s why there’s such a terrible stink all over the earth, which makes us stop our noses up. It also explains why we cannot see out noses - they're all on the moon."
From "Diary of a Madman" by Nikolai Gogol

"If we shadows have offended, think but this; and all is mended that you have but slumbered here while these visions did appear and this weak and idle theme no more yielding but a dream."
From "A Midsummers Night's Dream" by William Shakespeare

Random Stuff:

And here is a hodge-podge of other things that don't quite fit elsewhere for those of us who like loose ends and poor organization! Woo!
